Yes!! Infertility Can Be Cured

Research suggests that millions of couples worldwide are infertile and a large number of investigations has been held to know the causes of infertility and it was observed that there are different number of factors that could cause infertility.

What is infertility?

Infertility is defined as an inability of a couple to conceive naturally after one year of regular unprotected intercourse. Although there are many factors that could cause infertility, Irregular or lack of ovulation is the most common cause. Some other factors may include:

1. Problems with reproductive system.

2. Fluctuations with the level of hormones.

3. Blockage of the fallopian tube.

4. Severe thyroid dysfunction

Sometimes infertility is known to be subfertility which means that a couple needs to consult gynaecologist for help to conceive. Subfertility can be categorized into two:

  • Primary Subfertility – It means delay in conceiving for a couple who had no previous pregnancies.
  • Secondary Subfertility – It means delay in conceiving for a couple who has conceived previously but couldn’t make through due to cause like miscarriage.

Certain studies suggest that lifestyle factors play an important role in keeping the reproductive system in women healthy. In fact factors like weight, means being overweight or underweight can also affect fertility.

Medicines are always available for every problem and there are many medicines that are recommended to people who experience infertility. But at the same time, there are certain herbal remedies that helps in treating infertility. Herbal remedies has long been used in problems with infertility. Some of the herbs include:

1. Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha, also known as Withania Somnifera belongs to the family of Solanaceae and it possesses various pharmacological effects. Numerous phytochemical studies has been conducted to investigate the role of ashwagandha on various parts of reproductive system. Ashwagandha contains many chemical constituents which has an amazing effect on the health of an individual. The principal bioactive component present in withania somnifera is withanolides.

There are multiple ways through which as Ashwagandha helps in treating and preventing infertility in females. Ashwagandha is an extremely helpful drug all those couple who finds difficulty in conceiving. It helps to regulate the levels of hormones in the body and maintain balance. Intake of ashwagandha also promotes the normal functioning of reproductive system in both men and women.

Evidence suggest that stress can play an important role in contributing infertility, particularly due to stress related hormones. Stress related hormones can have a deleterious effect on the reproductive system. The extracts of Ashwagandha promotes homeostasis within the body by reducing stress response and normalizing cortisol levels. Ashwagandha is also beneficial for toning the uterus of a woman who suffered miscarriage. Miscarriage brings a lot of problems and weakness in a woman, ashwagandha helps to promote healthy well being.

2. Maca

Maca, also known as Lepidium meyenii belongs to the family of Brassicaceae is a well known herb due to its high effectiveness on the body. Maca is known to be a herb that contains nutrients, energizer, and fertility enhancing properties. Maca is considered to be a proven herb for the treatment of infertility in both men and women. It contains a large number of active chemical constituents that could contribute towards fertility.

Some of the potential bioactive ingredients present in maca include macadirine, macamides, macaene, glucosinolates, and maca-alkaloid. The alkaloids that are present in maca are non-steroid compounds that stimulates and contributes to the regulatory mechanism for various factors in the body. Alkaloids are considered to be the main stimulators of ovarian follicles.

Maca also promotes the optimal functioning of the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland that improves the functioning of all the endocrine glands and provides as balancing effect on follicle stimulating hormone, estradiol, and progesterone.

3. Cinnamon

Cinnamon has long been used for flavors in households, but numerous research have shown that cinnamon is an effective solution for infertility and many other reproductive problems. It is strongly believed that factors like hormonal imbalance and problems that cause irregularity with menstruation are the most common causes of infertility. Cinnamon is known to regulate the production of hormones in the body and treats and prevents various problems that could cause irregular menstruation.

Polycystic ovary syndrome or PCOS is considered to be one of the most common problems in women that cause infertility and irregular menstruation. Cinnamon is said to be an effective and proven remedy for women having PCOS. Women who consumed cinnamon for six months experienced significant improvement in PCOS and improvement in menstrual cycle irregularity.

Cinnamon contains many properties that contributes towards better well being by preventing and treating various health problems. One of the properties includes the antioxidant property that helps to fight the effects caused on the body due to stress. Stress is one of the common cause of infertility and cinnamon consumption prevents the damage caused to the body due to oxidative stress.

4. Licorice

The extracts of Licorice has been used for medicinal purposes for many years. In traditional medicines it is considered to be a natural source of sex hormones that works by enhancing and strengthening the female reproductive system. This is because licorice contains more than 100 bioactive constituents that performs activities like antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, steroids, aphrodisiac and antiviral.

Licorice extracts can have a significant impact on ovulation and structural changes of ovary, oviduct, and uterus.  The aphrodisiac property is a property that stimulates or increases the sexual desire and performance. Infertility is can be caused due to both men and women and licorice extracts are beneficial for both and it works by enhancing the functioning of their reproductive systems.

Licorice is composed of many components that not only promotes fertility but it also helps in treating and preventing other health problems. It is composed of components like triterpene, saponins, flavonoids, pectins, amino acids, and polysaccharides.

5. Pomegranate

Pomegranate is one of the most liked and consumed fruit by people across the world. It acts as a natural antioxidant that protects the body against various damages and the development of problems, including infertility. Pomegranate not only prevents infertility but it helps in the treatment of infertility in both men and women. Many gynaecologists recommended people suffering from infertility to consume pomegranate as it contains many ingredients that could help in treating the cause of it.

Hormonal imbalance is the most common cause of infertility in men and women and pomegranate regulates the secretion of all the important hormones in the body. It ensures that the level of hormones are normal, not too low or not too high. Both high and low levels of hormones can contribute to infertility. Thyroid dysfunction is also known to cause infertility and both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism cause problems.
