    The more salt you eat in your food, particularly at night, the more likely it is that you will wake up with under-eye bags. Since salt can lead to dehydration, your body prepares for that by retaining excess water, which leads to under-eye bags.
  4. Medical conditions: Certain health conditions such as thyroid disorders can cause bags under your eyes.
  5. Sleep: It isn’t just the dark circles that show up due to inadequate sleep, but sometimes, even eye bags can form.

    When you don’t get enough sleep for around 6 – 8 hours each night, your body becomes unable to do away with the excess fluid in your body, and then that fluid builds up around the eyes, leading to under-eye bags.

  6. Lifestyle: Nowadays, it isn’t uncommon for people in their late 20s and early 30s to suffer from under-eye bags. And the main reason for that is the lifestyle that they lead.

    If you’re someone who barely sleeps, has a hectic work schedule, eats fast food, and indulges in excessive smoking and/or drinking, then you’re highly likely to get eye bags pretty early.

  1. Limit your salt intake: Put down the salt shaker! Water will always pave its way from parts of your body that are low in sodium to those that have the most. The region around your eyes is a key example. That’s the reason a dinner loaded with salt usually leads to morning-after puffiness.
  2. Manage your allergies: Do you know what allergy seasons and puffy, watery eyes go hand in hand. Also, those OTC medicines that you take for your allergies, colds, or sinus infections can dry up your puffy eyes.
  3. Switch your sleeping position: Do you sleep on your stomach or side? Gravity prompts the fluid to collect under your eyes, which could explain those irksome eye bags. Try to sleep on your back and place an extra pillow under your head.
  4. Use a Neti pot: Some people have reported that using a neti pot can help get rid of eye bags and dark circles. A neti pot is a small device you fill with a saltwater solution. You need to pour the solution into one of your nostrils and let it drain from the other.
  5. Go easy on alcohol consumption: One or two standard alcoholic drinks are fine but don’t overdo it. Why so? Alcohol can pull out the water from your skin. Once the delicate area around your eyes weakens, it can probably sink into a pouch.

    Drink water before you go to sleep and apply a moisturizer around your eyes to get rid of under-eye bags.

    Excessive sun exposure can make the skin around your eyes wrinkle or sag. Use sunglasses, hats, and sunscreen to protect your face from harmful ultraviolet rays.

  8. Relax your eyes: Cool down your swollen eyes by using a cold compress. Try placing chilled tea bags, cucumber slices, or spoons to ease puffiness around your eyes. Regardless of what you use to chill out your eyes, the low temperature does all the magic.
