How To Prevent Cancer With Food?

Cancer is a general term given to a group of diseases that involves abnormal growth of the cells which have the potential to spread to other body parts and destroy the body tissues.

Cells are the fundamental unit of our body. These cells usually grow and divide as per the requirement of the body. With time, cells deteriorate or die, and their place is then taken by the new cells. This process goes on throughout the life of an individual.

Cancer starts when there are specific mutations in the genes. The cells start multiplying abnormally even when the body doesn’t require them. Cells accumulate and lead to the formation of a tumor. The tumor can either be:

Malignant or Benign

A malignant tumor grows and spreads to other parts of the body, whereas a benign tumor is defined to a specific part of the body.

What Are The Different Types Of Cancer?

Leukemia: There are three different types of blood cells present in our body, namely red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Leukemia is a cancer of white blood cells. WBCs or white blood cells are an essential part of the immune system. When these WBCs deviate from their normal functioning, it can lead to an abnormal multiplication of the cells.

Lymphoma: It affects lymphocytes that are responsible for fighting several infections. Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system, which includes lymph nodes, bone marrow, spleen, thymus, and other lymphatic organs.

Carcinomas: Carcinomas begin in the cells that construct the skin or other tissue lining organs like the kidney or liver. It can spread to other parts of the body in the same way as with the different types of cancer. All carcinomas are not cancerous; some are benign. Carcinoma in situ remains at the organs where it starts and does not spread.

What Are The Foods To Prevent Cancer?

Garlic kills the bacteria H. Pylori, the bacteria responsible for causing stomach cancer and stomach ulcer.

To get maximum benefits, peel and chop the garlic. Let it sit for at least 20 minutes before using it in preparation for some food. It stimulates enzymes and liberates the sulfurous compounds, which safeguards our body against several illnesses and cancer.

The presence of polyphenols in green tea makes scientists believe that it has anti-cancer characteristics. The cell damage could be repaired due to the antioxidants in green tea, although there is no such evidence of its anti-cancer features.

The antioxidants in the carrot can fight the Human Papilloma Virus that causes cervical cancer.

The photochemical carotene is present in abundance in carrots. This compound provides support to the immune system and reduces the risk of various types of cancer, particularly cancer of the breast, prostate, and stomach.

Spinach is a primary source of carotenoids, a substance which removes free radicals from the body. When these unstable molecules are not removed, they can transform specific genes and cause cancer.

The cancer of the mouth, esophagus, lung, and stomach can come down with the consumption of spinach and other leafy vegetables.

Beans are a rich source of fiber that can reduce the risk of colorectal cancer. Studies have evidence that most of the people who consume a sufficient amount of beans don’t usually get stuck with this type of cancer.

Red kidney and pinto beans contain antioxidants and should be included in the anti-cancer diet.

Berries like strawberries and raspberries contain high levels of antioxidants such as ellagic acid and vitamin C.

Blueberries contain anthocyanins which mitigate the development of tumors.

Red grapes are better for cancer prevention as compared to green grapes as their skin has a high content of resveratrol.

Turmeric also called the golden spice or the Indian saffron is a spice with numerous medicinal properties. It is used in most Indian curries because of its features and the yellow tincture.
