How hemp oil is beneficial for the health

You must have probably heard about hemp oil, which has been the topic of many studies, news articles and social media discussions these days and wondered what the buzz is all about. Hemp oil is a good source of some quality nutrients and has a long history of use in the eastern culture as a multi-purpose natural remedy and is growing popular all over the world now.

Hemp oil is different from cannabidiol (CBD) oil, which is an extract of the cannabis plant and uses hemp flowers and leaves for its production while hemp oil is made from the hemp seed itself. Hemp oil does not make the user feel “high” and hence many people can use it. Hemp seed oil is rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants and has many health benefits.

Boosts heart health

There are some bioactive compounds found in hemp seed oil which can lower blood cholesterol levels and protect the heart. Hemp oil has omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids in the optimal ratio  3:1 which has been found to be beneficial for cardiovascular health.

Some animal studies have shown that hemp seed oil can reduce cholesterol absorption. Some other studies conducted have found that taking 30 ml of the oil every day for four weeks reduces the ratio of total cholesterol to HDL cholesterol, which can improve heart health. The essential fatty acids contained in hemp oil can help reduce the levels of unhealthy fats in the body leading to improved cardiovascular health.

Some research suggests that hemp oil contents may help blood vessels to relax and widen, which indicates it may support healthy blood pressure.

Supports exercise recovery

Intense athletic training and excessive workouts can strain muscles, leading to discomfort and long recovery times. Full-spectrum help oil may be able to help in muscle recovery.

Hemp oil has the property of soothing temporary inflammations and research indicates that it may inhibit the release of the neurotransmitter GABA, which can alleviate muscle tension.

The essential fatty acids in hemp oil can boost brain health in other ways including improving memory and possibly preventing age-related cognitive decline. Inhaling this oil in aromatherapy is believed to enhance the mood as well.

Pregnancy benefits

Hemp seed oil is known to be beneficial for all pregnant mothers due to its high content of omega-3 fatty acids. According to some studies, adequate intake of omega-3 fatty acids is critical during pregnancy as they are the building blocks of the fetal brain and retina. They also play a major role in preventing prenatal depression in mothers. Hemp oil due to containing omega-3 fatty acids can also help prevent preterm delivery and promote an easier birth and the baby’s optimum lifelong wellness.

However, there can be potential risks and ill effects of hemp seed oil during pregnancy and it is recommended to consult a doctor before using it.

Can improve digestive health and boost immunity

Hemp seeds have been known to benefit the digestive system. Owing to their fiber content (both soluble and insoluble), they relieve constipation, bloating and ease bowel movements.

The omega-3 fats and GLA content in hemp seed oil make it a wonderful remedy for a weakened immune system. The oil boosts immunity and prevents diseases from occurring in the body.

For skin

Hemp oil is great for most skin types as it can moisturize without clogging the pores. It  helps to balance out oily skin, hydrating it and regulating the skin’s oil production. If skin is too dry it can cause the skin to overproduce oil, which in turn, can stimulate acne. Using hemp oil can prevent dry skin without clogging up the pores. This helps to reduce and prevent acne caused by excess oil.

Hemp oil contains omega 6 fatty acids which have powerful anti-inflammatory properties and encourage skin growth and new cell generation. This property helps to calm inflammation and irritation on the skin, including acne and some conditions like psoriasis, while keeping the skin nourished and moisturized. In addition to moisturizing and soothing the skin, hemp oil also has anti aging properties and can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles as well as prevent signs of aging from developing.

Hemp oil can help in treatment of atopic dermatitis, a skin disorder, since it is rich in omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids.
